HOW TO KEEP YOUR SUMMER GLOW INTO FALL!

DRESS FROM || FOREVER 21
Yes, I know summer is slowly but surely coming to an end, but that doesn't mean you have to give up looking like you just spent all day by the pool. As women we spend so much time working on our tans all throughout the summer, and sometimes most of us start working on our tan way before summer even begins! (I'm GUILTY!) So, when summer end's and fall starts rolling around we start to loose that beautiful sun-kissed glow. I know first hand that it can be sooo frustrating- especially if you have really fair skin like I do. I've spent years trying to keep my tan year around, and I've tried it all- from tanning beds, to spray-tans & of course self tanners! So, today I'm going to share with you  how you can keep your summer glow year around WITHOUT messing up your beautiful skin in the tanning bed.

Step 1) KEEP UP YOUR DAILY SPF HABITS - You might be thinking that since summer is over you should put away your SPF, but that's entirely NOT TRUE at all! No matter what season it is the sun is always there, even if it's hidden behind clouds. Believe it or not, sun can be more damaging when least expected. From a beauty point of view, the radiation tears up your collagen which leads you to look a lot older. As women, we're always trying to do something to our skin to prevent wrinkles & making our skin look younger. As you get older, the sun will be your #1 enemy. So just remember to apply your SPF 365 days a year. || BUY IT FROM SEPHORA HERE

Step 2) EXFOLIATE- Depending on your skin type is how often you should exfoliate. I honestly exfoliate 3 times a week, but if you have sensitive skin you should only be exfoliating once weekly. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells allowing your pores to absorb nutrients. The bonus to treating your skin well is that healthy skin performs much better. For example, if you feel like your makeup isn't applying flawlessly, then it's probably because your not exfoliating & keeping up with your skin. Using a exfoliant even just once a week will rejuvenate your skin pretty much instantly! || BUY IT FROM SEPHORA HERE

Step 3) USE SELF TANNER- As I said earlier and I'm sure you've heard this before even if you didn't exactly believe it. It's TRUE! DO NOT I REPEAT DO NOT LAY IN A TANNING BED! I use to lay in the tanning bed all the time, and every time I would my skin would itch like crazy! I don't exactly know why, but it only happened when I laid in a tanning bed. Self-tanner is a much safer way to go, and quit frankly- MUCH EASIER! You don't have to lay numerous times just to start your tan, you just apply your self tanner & you instantly have a beautiful tan. Especially if your looking to attain healthy glowing skin- stay away from tanning beds! || BUY IT FROM SEPHORA HERE & GET A GLOW LOTION FROM HERE

Step 4) USE POWDERS- The safest way to fake color on your face is of course- using a bronzer or even blush. Of course, most of us wear a lot more makeup in the fall (at least I do) but if you don't like wearing a full glam, then just add a little bronzer to your skin. Just lightly dust the powder onto your skin mostly were the sun hits- like your forehead, nose, contour area and collarbones. This will give you a more sun-kissed glow while looking like it's just your natural skin! If you want to add a little boost, I would recommend adding a blush on top of the bronzer. Not so much a pink blush, but more of a peachy-golden blush to give you that natural glow. || BUY THE BRONZER FROM SEPHORA HERE & THE BLUSH FROM SEPHORA HERE

Step 5) REPAIR YOUR SKIN AT NIGHT- This is so important even if you don't want to keep your glow all year around. You should always cleanse your skin at night time! As the weather gets colder you'll need to add something more heavy to your night-time routine. You should switch the attention from your summer skin care regimen to your winter care plan. During the winter it's such a common issue to get either dry or itchy skin, but with the proper skin care this can be easily prevented. So at night after you finish cleansing your skin it's vital that you add a moisturizer or even a serum (I use both, but I'm extra.) Step 6) EAT HEALTHY- I know your probably thinking "Well, Shayna you should be eating healthy all the time." Which your totally correct, but did you know that some fall foods are packed with skin-nourishing nutrients? Some foods are carrots, sweet potatoes and pumpkin's. Eating these kind of foods will actually help your complexion out a lot! It will also give your skin a radiant glow. The ingredient in these types of food is beta-carotene. When consumed, this antioxidant goes into your skin and protects your skin cells from sun exposure. The best part about it is, beta-carotene may also add a warm-orange color to your skin, giving you an overall healthier look.

So there it is my loves, there you have my amazing 6 steps for keeping your beautiful summer glow year around! Now it's you turn to go try it out! Try out every step that I wrote down for you, and I promise you that you'll look amazing all winter long. Have a wonderful weekend my loves!

Also, my loves I've been trying to figure out a set schedule for my blog posts. As of right now, it's pretty much just been random or usually every weekend. I'm going to try my BEST to start getting 2 posts weekly instead of one. I will probably post on the weekend & mid week. It's hard with my school schedule and work schedule to figure exact days, but I will have the exact days soon!

MORNING SKIN CARE

It's always important to try to start your day off right, (healthy meal) but just like your body needing that healthy meal every morning- your skin needs a fresh start as well. Whether you prefer taking a shower a night or showering in the morning it's always important to give your skin a nice cleanse in the morning. My skin care routine changes from time to time, (mostly depending on the seasons) because I usually ALWAYS have dry skin. Therefore; I need to make sure my skin stays as hydrated as possible. I get asked a lot "How does your foundation look so flawless?" It's definitely NOT that I use some magical foundation! LOL. You're makeup is only going to look as good as what's underneath! This summer I've been LOVING Dermalogica, their products are amazing! They are a little on the "pricey" side, so I will link some other products that I use year around as well. *********The collection of Dermalogica skincare products were formulated without common skin irritants, including lanolin, alcohol, mineral oil and artificial colors and fragrances to provide the most effective skincare benefits possible, without the irritation****

                                                             Cleanser

Special Cleansing Gel: Some may say that cleansing your face in the morning isn't all that necessary, but I tend to disagree. A cleanser is a facial-care product that removes make-up, dead skin cells, oil, dirt, and other types of pollutants from the skin of the face. This helps to unclog pores and prevent skin conditions such as acne. Our skin can go through a lot at night, believe it or not. Whether it's your faced being pressed up against the pillow, or getting hot in the middle of the night (causing oil to build up in your pores.) Highly acne prone skin, or skin that has excessive oils can benefit from a good wash. “If you have extremely oily or acne prone skin, cleansing in the morning with a gentle cleanser can help reduce oil. I always use a facial cleanser in the morning to give myself that fresh morning feeling that I enjoy!
Kiehls Facial Cleanser: This is a really good cleanser that I tend to always reach for- no matter what season it is! Works for all skin types!

Toner

Multi-Active Toner: If you're not using a toner in your skin care routine, then you definitely should consider it. A toner's function is to complete the cleansing of your skin—removing the dust, pollution, and impurities that can still be lingering after washing with a cleanser. Most toners are water-based liquids composed of specific active ingredients including plant extracts and essential oils, tailored to address a variety of skin types. Toners shrink your pores, restores your skin's pH balance, it adds a layer of protection, acts as a moisturizer, refreshes the skin, and can prevent ingrown hairs! There are several different toners that act according to you're skin type, you just have to find what work's best for you!
Kopari Coconut Rose Toner: I really enjoy using this toner as well. It's vegan, alcohol-free, and multitasking toner to keep redness at bay,

Serums

Multivitamin Power Serum: Probably my favorite part of skin-care, Serums! I love using serums both in the morning and at night. Serums is a skincare product that you apply after cleansing and toning, but before moisturizing with the intent of delivering powerful ingredients directly into the skin. Serums penetrate deeper to deliver active ingredients in your skin. The MOST important rule when it comes to Serums is not to use to much product, just remember a little goes a long way! Using a Serum everyday can improve the texture of your skin.
Truth Serum: Daily multivitamin for the skin.

SPF

Dynamic Skin Recovery: This step right here is the MOST important of them in all, and especially in the summer time! Using sunscreen should be essential to you're everyday skin-care. Some people use SPF all through-out the year and that's perfectly fine (I personally use it year around) but in the summer you should always use SPF. It's key to keep you're skin looking both healthy and youthful. SPF measures sunscreen protection from UV Rays, the kind that causes sunburn's and skin cancer. For example; If you're skin usually burns after 10 mins of being in the sun, applying SPF 15 will allow you to be in the sun for approximately 150 mins. Your skin can be harmed by constant sun exposure, whether or not you see a burn. Remember, sunburn is an immediate reaction, but damage from the sun occurs over a lifetime. I also recommend for days when the sun is extremely powerful to use a direct sunscreen
Tinted Moisturizer: This Product features an antioxidant vitamin complex of vitamins C and E that acts as a free radical scavenger to protect the skin.

Moisturizer

Skin Smoothing Cream: Moisturizers can prevent the skin from becoming to dry or too oily. To keep your skin looking freshly hydrated I recommend you find a moisturizer that is perfect for you're skin. There are a ton of good, inexpensive moisturizers! For the morning I love moisturizers with Vitamin C because it just gives you that burst of energy feeling! Make sure you find the right moisturizer for you're skin type- weather it being for oily skin or dry skin.
Ultra-Repair Cream: Whipped texture with no greasy feeling after! Very hydrating.

Eye Cream

Banana Bright Eye Cream: This step is totally you're choice or not, you don't have to do this step. I choose to always apply a eye cream right after I finish up my skin-care routine. I never used to do this step, but as I started getting older I realized the difference my makeup and skin looked after applying an eye cream. I usually stick to 1 or 2 eye creams (I'm very picky about my eye creams.) LOL! Eye creams are formulated specifically for the delicate skin around the eye, so they tend to be thicker. Squinting and constant movement of the eyes also hasten the appearance of lines and wrinkles. I try to stay towards more hydrating eye creams, just to give my under eye a boost!
Gin-Zig Eye Cream: Amazing eye cream that visibly brightens the eye! These 2 that are linked are my FAV eye creams!

OVERALL

Overall, I love the Dermalogica Skin Care line. I just recently started using their products a few weeks ago, and fell in love. For the summer time, I like light-weight products on my face. I even tried using these products on oily skin as well, and they performed just as well as they did on my skin! The other products that I linked are my "MUST HAVES" for in the morning if I'm not using Dermalogica.
